What is a Palliative Care Home?
Palliative means "comfort only" and the goal of palliative care is to provide all of the things that terminally ill patients need most: freedom from pain, emotional & spiritual support and the ability to control the direction of their own care as much as possible. The Caring Place offers the opportunity to live in a home staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by trained professional caregivers.
What does The Caring Place offer?
The Caring Place is designed to keep family members connected to one another physically, emotionally and spiritually. It has a large living room, kitchen, dining space, a sunroom, a picnic area, an outdoor smoking area, and a guest bedroom for visiting family. Home Health & Hospice agencies with their teams of professionals including nurses, social workers, therapists, certified nursing assistants, chaplains and volunteers provide support to individuals and their families just as they would in their own residence.
How Can We Help?
The Caring Place is a 5-bed residence available on a private pay basis to anyone with a terminal illness with a life expectancy of one year or less for whom care at home is not an option. The daily room and board charges are comparable to rates at nursing facilities and are based on the level of care provided. Room & board is not usually an insurance benefit.
